Is there any charge to post listings in TechNewsWorld Classifieds?
No. TechNewsWorld Classifieds is a free service.

Do I have to be a registered member to view listings?
No. Anyone can search and browse listings.

How do I create a listing?
Click on the Create Listing link at the top of the left column of every page. New users must register and sign in (with cookies enabled) to create a listing.

How do I sign up to become a registered member?
If you are already registered with ECT News Network, your membership includes use of TechNewsWorld Classifieds. Use your existing ECT News username and password to sign in to TechNewsWorld Classifieds. If you are not already registered, you will be prompted to sign up for a free account when you click the Create Listing link. Or, you can click the Create Free Account link in the upper portion of the left column of every page. Registration is a one-time process that takes just a couple of minutes. You will need to provide a valid e-mail address where we can send you a link to activate your membership. You should receive the activation link in your inbox within moments of signing up.

Why must I sign up to create a listing?
Requiring registration helps to protect the integrity of the service by having members take responsibility for the content that is posted. It also provides us with a way to contact members by email with important updates and notifications.

Why must I sign up to use the My Listings and Saved Listings features?
Our systems need to recognize you for these sorting and filtering features to work properly.

What's the difference between My Listings and Saved Listings?
My Listings automatically displays all of your created listings, both active and expired. The Saved Listings feature lets you create a custom display of active listings, whether created by you or someone else, by clicking on the Add to Save Listings link located within every post.

How long will my listing remain live on TechNewsWorld Classifieds?
Listings remain live for 45 days.

Can I edit or remove my listing after it goes live?
Yes. Once you have signed in, you can click the My Listings link to manage your listings.

Can I add HTML or URLs to my listing?
Yes. Limited HTML is allowed in the Body field. We suggest you use the editing toolbar for this purpose, as well as to format the text that will appear in your listing.

Can I add photos or other images to my listing?
Yes. All you have to do is click on the Browse button next to the Add Image field and then select the desired image file on your hard drive.

Are there any file format or size requirements for the images I add to my listing?
Yes. Accepted file formats are GIF, JPEG and PNG. There is a file size limit of 1 MB per image. Our system will automatically resize any image more than 500 pixels wide.

I was creating a listing, and my keystrokes stopped registering. What happened?
You probably exceeded the character limit for the particular field you were working in. Character limits are noted above the entry fields.

What happens when my listing expires?
When your listing expires, TechNewsWorld will send you an email notification with a link to your listing management page. Follow the link to renew the listing with a couple of clicks. You do not have to renew immediately; you have up to six months after your listing expires to use the Renew Listing feature.

How is the listing display order determined?
New listings appear at the top of each section immediately after they are created. If you renew a listing after it expires, the renewal is treated as a new listing and is positioned at the top of its section.

Can I arrange for my listing to always appear at the top of a section?
Premium listings are available for a fee. Contact sales for details.

Can I place the same listing in more than one section?
No. An individual listing can only be placed in one section.

Is there a limit to the number of listings I can create?
There is no limit to the number of listings a registered member may post. However, we do screen for duplicate entries and other abuse that unnecessarily clutters or degrades the service.

Are there rules regarding the type of content I can post?
Yes. Please refer to our Terms of Service.

How does TechNewsWorld determine whether a listing is relevant or appropriate?
We take an open-minded approach when screening listings. Here are some examples we hope will help you to understand how the process works:

  • A technology company may post listings in any section.
  • An IT executive or consultant, software developer, computer technician or network administrator may post a listing in the Services Offered section.
  • If your clothing store has a Web site and you are looking to recruit a programmer or designer, you should post that job here. However, if you're trying to fill a cashier position at a brick-and-mortar clothing store that has no presence on the Internet, this is not the right place for you to advertise that opportunity.
  • If you want to sell new or used computer equipment, cell phones, GPS devices, digital cameras or audio/video equipment, this is the place for you. If you're looking to sell a bicycle, this is not the appropriate place.
  • Anyone looking to buy or sell a domain name may post in the Goods for Sale section.

For more information on appropriate use of TechNewsWorld Classifieds, please refer to our Terms of Service. If you still have questions about this topic, contact us.

How can people respond to my listings?
TechNewsWorld will not automatically display your email address, but you may include any contact information you like within your listing. If you wish to post anonymously, interested parties can use our Respond to Listing feature. They can simply click on a link provided within your listing to send a message to the email address you gave TechNewsWorld when you registered. If you choose to reply to any message, your email address will then display as it does with your normal email correspondence.

Will my email address or other information be visible to the public?
Our system will not display your email address or other information you submit when registering with us. However, any information that you include when you create a listing will be publicly displayed immediately. You can go back and edit a listing at any time, but we urge you to be cautious and use common sense when creating a listing.

Can I post anonymously and still get responses?
Yes. But if you reply to a response to your listing, the person you write to will receive your email address and any other information transmitted in your response.

Will you share my information with third parties?
We may share certain aggregated demographic information with our sponsors regarding the users of the Service and responses we receive via interactive sessions. The aggregated information that we provide does not contain any personally identifiable information. Please refer to our Privacy Policy page if you have more questions on this topic.
